Dear Old Car Friend,
It was halfway
July 2001 when a software engineer in Amsterdam made his mouse say
"Click! " to launch the very first edition of PreWarCar.
After a short 'running in' we started publishing seven feature stories
per week without missing one day. With one exception when we published
a black picture during 48 hours on 11 September 2001.... edition #
44.
We are some 1800 editions further now (about 20 editions fell
into oblivion after a major computer crash in 2003). 1800 stories
filled with stories and photos from you The Visitor, The Reader, The
Salesman, The Engineer, The Historian, The Curator, The Quizwinner,
The Driver, The Writer, The Critic, The Artist.
You brought us Moving events, vivid Memories, unsolvable Mysteries
and much, much, More.
We can only express a giantesque " Thank You ! "
to the countless numbers of men and women who have helped and still
help to make this website a daily joy for thousands, from over 160
visiting countries. PreWarCar is now seen by around 150,000 visitors
every month.
As a start of the celebrations, PreWarCar has been invited
by the organisers of the 5th European Concours D'Elegance of Schwetzingen
September
1,2,3 (www.Oldtimergala.de). All PreWarCar drivers are invited
to bring their car into the gardens of the palace (free entrance).
Shiny or scruffy, no matter what, as long as it is pre 1945 and running!
If you cannot bring a car, the first 10 responders will receive one
free ticket. (please let us know if you plan to come and you will
get the full invitation program)
To start the next chapter of PreWarCar we have added a new vivid page
to the website. A page that again will be made by You and which will
be more lively than any of PreWarCar's pages before. You may have
seen a preview, but from today it 's official.
Enjoy it - Share it - Use it !
This is the ultimate tool to keep our hobby young and our cars desirable
for the next generation .
Upload your 'home' car or motorbike video, and the first 25 video
-senders will get the new PreWarCar T-shirt !
Show your motorcar. Show your rally. Show your eh... engine breakdown...
Show your old Black & White footage.
Show anything moving...prewar. ... (and send us your name and address
for the t-shirt) ..
