Bentley
MKVIs B215 HP and B30 KM
by Robert Geelen, The Netherlands
|
B215
HP was
supplied in October 1950 in Nottingham, and had many owners, all
locally, until bought by me in 1993. Alwas duo grey, with bluegrey
hide piped dark blue.
A high mileage car (more than 800,000 miles), she was resored
in the eighties by Ristes with polyester mudguards front &
rear and sills. Well they don't rust!
I had the car resprayed, and kept her going mechanically: a driver's
car, not a showpiece. I went all over Europe in her including
the Czech Republic, Slovenia and the Cote d'Azur.
She will now go to a friend, once he had sold the Jaguar XK 120,
which is in the way in his garage. |

B30
KM
was built in 1950 (just), but only delivered in June 1951,
as its first owner lived in Chirstchurch, New Zealand. Originally
Belco Black with red hide, a later owner introduced Kiwi Green
as a second colour. All things bright and beautiful thus.
Although a colonial specification as such does not seem to
exist, she has different bumpers, two lamps in lieu of a centre
lamp, an oil bath air cleaner, and so forth. Additional rubber
on the rear spats too. Mileage probably less than 100,000.
The original interior was refreshed.
The engine had coolant blockage at the rear of the block and
exploded en route from France. By chance another 4.25 engine,
freshly rejuvenated, was discovered and installed and now
she is waiting to go again.
