My 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow - By Tommy Hermanrud (Norway)

Hello Rolls-Royce & Bentley friends!

My name is Tommy Hermanrud and I am from Norway. I am a member of the RREC-Norwegian Section and I want to tell you a little bit of my 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.

I have had a big interest for classic cars for many years, and I bought my first classic car in 1994. It was a 1957 Volvo PV 444. I had the PV until year 2000 when I sold it and bought a 1961 Volvo Amazon. After that I have had a 1957 Buick Special Riviera and a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible. All these cars has been fun to own and drive, but ever since I was a little boy I have always dreamt about that someday I would own a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.

My chance came when I sold my Ford Mustang Convertible and a 1968 RR Silver Shadow was for sale in Telemark for the price that I got for my Mustang. My lucky day! I called the seller and went to look at it the next weekend. The car was in a very good condition and after a test drive we had a deal. The car is a smoke green 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, SRX 3059, with new interior in green leather. The car is in a very good shape and it runs well. I bought the car in July 2005 and I have used it a lot and it is a real pleasure to drive the Rolls. People are staring and pointing at the car when I pass, because in Norway it is very rare to see a Rolls-Royce in traffic. My Silver Shadow was sold new to a lawyer in Canada in 1968 and it is a left hand drive. It was exported to Norway and Bergen in 1998 and to Telemark in 2004 where I bought it in July 2005, so I am the 4. owner of the car.

I am a member of Rolls-Royce Enthusiats`Club, the Norwegian section and I hope I can join them for a meeting or cruising next year. It would also be fun to come to England to meet some of the english Rolls-Royce owners as well. I have always had the interest for classic cars and now I have three classic cars in my garage: 1968 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, 1969 Renault 16 and a 1972 Volvo 144 Grand Luxe in near mint condition. My dream car is a Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible, and I hope that someday the dream come true.

Happy new Rolls-Royce & Bentley year!!
